Saturday, August 03, 2013 Up at 5 am and to the outfitters by 7:30 am. We have a 10 am boat tow to hook island that we have to make, and with us flying in from all over the country the night before you can imagine that there was some work left to be done. But we make the tow no problem, and actually the outfitter ends up not being ready for us and we don’t start till 1030. But we are at Hook Island and paddling by about 1130. A quick stop by the ranger station where we are greeted by a nice ranger named Hannah and we are officially in the Q. I quickly realized that with the way our group was constructed we would have to double portage (something I am very much not used too) which displeased us brothers greatly. We complained about for a bit on the first portage till we realized there was nothing to be done and then got over it. Oh well. This day we paddled to the north arm of Saganagons and made our campsite at about 4 pm. Not much fishing was done, though we did pull in several small northern. My mother cooked up a delicious meal of dehydrated camp burritos. Keep an eye on the word dehydrated. That’s gonna become a theme.
