Day 3 of 5
Tuesday, August 22, 2017 This was supposed to be our last harder day. We were going to cross over Brule and take the difficult portages starting at Cam in order to stay the night at Town lake. I woke everyone up early this time and we got in gear. Brule was fairly windy but nothing we couldn't manage. I had heard that the portages starting at Cam lake were "rugged", and indeed this is what we found them to be. They are almost entirely comprised of jagged boulders and rocks, so it was important for us to take our time and be sure of our footing. We put all the work in, thinking that we would have Town lake all to ourselves once we got there. Wrong! again, the campsite was taken. We felt a bit cheated, but pressed on and found a nice campsite on Cherokee. ~Cam Lake, Gasket Lake, Vesper Lake, Town Lake, Cherokee Lake
