Sunday, August 27, 2017 Well, it rained lightly on/off most of the night and it's still cool, humid and drizzling. Sunny made "breakfast suprise" and we had an otter visit while we were eating. Hit the water at 8:30 and headed for Kawnipi. Little Falls is first. Not a bad portage.....up over a hill. Koko portage is tougher. Took a break and took some spurs down to view the falls. Canyon is a tough one. The creek crossing towards the end is difficult and the far landing is rocky, deep and in a swirling eddy. Add in the 2 canoes that pulled right in between us as we were loading and it kinda pissed us off. They almost got an earful..... Kennabas Falls are a powerful little chunk of mother nature but the portage is easy. Nobody is around so we take a lunch break on the portage and ponder the happenings that led to the canoe being stuck in the log jam on the falls. It's a long paddle on Kawnipi up to McKenzie Bay in the cool light rain.....borderline miserable. We stop briefly at Kawa Bay to take a peek and view the pictos of the horned warriors in the canoe. It's around 4:30 when we get to a nice campsite......the one on the little point with 270 degrees of view. Not much to view but mist, clouds and drizzle. We ate supper and sat under the tarp til about 7:00 when the moisture finally quit. The sleeping bag felt good after a long hard day.
