After a somewhat restless night sleeping in the inferior tent (more of a hammock guy), I excitedly started my journey to a dry cabin I booked through Rec.gov. The thought of being able to cook in the place I sleep and being able to dry my very wet socks had me giddy.

The creek travel still required some dragging at points but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel as more creeks join the one I’m floating. I make good time and I arrive at the cabin at noon.

At the cabin, I immediately start a fire in the wood stove to save my white gas and to dry my clothes. This was a controversial decision as the cabin was nice and cool compared to the relative 80-degree heat of outside. Nonetheless, I sweated it out and had my mashed potatoes and half set up my tent on the floor to keep the few mosquitos in the cabin from getting a free meal.

I end up spending most of the day inside the cabin resting and reading past entries of the guest book. A surprising number of Europeans pass through here in the summer.

I end up going to sleep in my boxers due to the extreme heat of the woodstone (a self-inflicted wound, I know).
