Day 2 of 7
Tuesday, June 19, 2007 15 miles and 15 portages.

Left Goldseekers at 4:40 for our 50 mile 2 hour journey to Leano Lake. We had been warned that the road could be challenging but passable. A culvert had been washed out just before the entry and we would need to carry an additional 200 rods to the lake. Saw a wolf on our drive. Were paddling on Leano a little after 7. Day started out with rain and continued to mist for most of the day. Fought a decent headwind for most of out travels today thru Leano, Bunny, East Lunch, Lunch, Jake, to Mexican Hat. Camped just into Mexican Hat at the base of the falls at about 4:00. Since this was the only real Walleye fishing on our route we set up camp and fished. Caught a few eater size eyes had supper, fished a little and went to bed. High temp of 59 deg low about 40. Portages today were very wet with one crossing a 10" deep fast moving rapids with treacherous footing.
