Journeyman	05/13/2009 07:35PM   I am looking at the portages between Lac LaCroix and McAree, the Black Robe and Brewer Portages, and wondering which is the preferred route to take? Good or bad points on these routes anyone?
fishguts	05/13/2009 10:21PM   Joe, We have only done the Brewer route....we were scheduled to go Black Robe last year but the high water made us go back to Brewer. It depends on where you are going I think. If you are headed through Minn and the Darkey River then Black Robe is more direct. If going to Pond and over the "Long Haul Portage" into Little Gratton then the Brewer route is more direct. The Brewer route just has 2 short portages into McAree...the second one goes right through a campsite........kinda odd when it is occupied.
