Brent is a great fishing lake. Not the prettiest of lakes, but there be fish there.

Thanks everyone for your input. It sounds like we can't go wrong no matter which way we choose. I understand that the water level is down this spring so we will see how that plays out on the portages.
Hey when you spend a week in the wilderness with your 18 year old son, it is all good!

Went that route last August. High water - Isabella into no-name south of Side without portage and north low route from Side to Sarah - much easier than the main route over the hill. We went to Brent and William - wished we had gone to Conmee first. Left through Cone, Elk, and Gardner to Thursday and up Basswood to PP. Like others, really enjoyed Elk and Brent. I've just found the routes out of Kahshahpiwi "less appealing" at end of a trip - probably not so bad at 40 rather than 60.

We did a portion of this trip last year. Once we reached Brent however the weather turned horrible (windy and cold) so our fishing experience went south. I would highly recommend that you plan to camp on Elk if you can. That is one beautiful lake with lot's of fish. We had great fishing and campsites in Gardner Bay and Brent (several of them)but we did not make it up to Conmee because the weather was so bad. Mackenzie was another pretty lake but winds and cold pretty much hampered everything. I'll post a trip report in a couple of days (should have done so long ago).

A great section of the park. If you decide to head to Robinson consider the route South from Brent through Earl and Ted. If you go through Kahshahpiwi I've been told that it is "easier" to head out through McNeice or YumYum since the beaver dam blew out. If you have any questions drop me an email.

So right. Mine is 17 this year and have done this every year since he was 11. Only thing better than a week is two weeks.

I am heading into Quetico for the first time after many trips to the BWCA on the 22nd of May. We are planning on going to Brent and Suzanette via Sarah Lake. We are considering returning to PP via Burt- Marj- Kahshahpiwi. Our other possible route is to return via Elk- Bart -Robinson-Tuck. Any thoughts on these two routes would be appreciated. Also has anyone been through there this spring? How are the water levels? We hope to do some fishing along the way.
Thanks

We came through that area a couple years ago, check out our trip report Fishguts 2008 Quetico Chronicles We came in from McAree and Lac Lacriox and William to Conmee to Brent & Suzanette. Then down the Darkey River to Paulette & McIntyre to Sarah and out to P.P. I know the route returning to PP via Burt- Marj- Kahshahpiwi has a beaverdam blown out on the portage between Kashapiwi and Side Lake making a tougher route than it used to be....Never been to Robinson. We have lots of info on McIntyre,Suzanette,Paulette, Darkey River area for campsites, message Jars, fishing spots etc. Get back to me, and I can e-mail you some of that info......Wonderful country!!!
