I asked Robin (the park sup) this very question earlier this year, he was fine with it. Keep in mind if you fish there, better have a license, and to camp you need a permit.

My question was asked in the context of paddling along the border and seeing an interesting lake or bay on the Q side to explore or fish.

Thank you!

I was considering a day trip from a base camp on Moose Lake to Louisa Falls. I thought day tripping without motors was in fact OK.

Sorry to ask for a quick answer rather than looking it up but is a permit required for day paddle trip into Quetico? My soon will be in BWCAW but I wondered if he was in Canadian waters if a permit is required? (He'll have a RABP and passport.)

oh, if you step foot on canadian soil you would need a day permit (other than the portages on the border). paddling across the imaginary line is something completely different.
