We had a great campsite at the south end of McKenzie Bay last summer - it's on the biggish island straight ahead of you as you enter the bay. On Kawa Bay, I really like the Indian Village campsite where the Wawiag flows in, although that's a long paddle up the bay. I may make a stab at Lemay this year, too, but am leaning a little more toward Cutty Creek to Camel and Death March.
fishguts	12/26/2007 11:31AM   Maverick, The only part of your route I've been on is the Kashawpiwi section and that is a great area. As for entry points, Agnes has 7 permits per day and Kash has 2....Falls chain has 3,and Boundary Point, Saganagons Lake has 2. If it was me ...I'd go up the "S" chain...Silence,Sultry,Etc to Agnes & Kawnipi and back through Kash. I don't like crowds so the Meadows Portages hold no charm for me. Sounds like a great trip whatever entry you choose. Let us know your choices, and how it goes!!! Catch a big nasty Northern for me!
Obergut	01/14/2008 11:28AM   Yeah, that Camel-Veron-Conmee is truly a great area. My brother and I took 2 teenage girls and our wives on the DMP from Conmee into Delahey last year. Drink lots of water and take 2X more with you. We'll be doing a Kawnipi trip this year via Agnes and back through the Falls/McEwen.
Trygve	12/26/2007 04:44PM   Boundary Point Permit. Don't worry about exiting and entering. Great time to go for fishing, bugs could be bad, but not that bad. Water will be high! The sites in Mckenzie are nicer, for the most part. Fishing will be awesome. I would move around on Kawnipi, the norther part of the lake is stunning. Also Lemay, the portage that goes from the Cache River Bay is really hard to find. I would advise going in and out of the lake on Lemay Creek.
Maverick	12/26/2007 10:18AM   This is related to the topic we had last fall in the Lemay Lake thread. I thought I would start a new thread. I am still serious about the Saganagons - Mack - Kawnipi trip. We would be going for 9 days/8 nights in Mid June. Depending on timing, we may even give Lemay a shot. Couple questions: 1) Do we get a Saganagons/Boundary Point EP #74 entry point? 2) Is it legal to leave and re-enter Quetico park as it appears we will need to do to reach Mack? 3) We will have 4 days on Kawnipi give or take a day. Do we stay on Kawa Bay and base camp? Go up to Mckenzie Bay? Head up to upper Kawnipi and maybe head into Lemay? Second option is to go out of Prairie Portage with a Kashawpiwi EP, do the Kash Chain and get on Kawnipi. Head down Agnes and back to PP. We are about 80/20 right now on the Mack route though. Still leaning on going to Kawnipi, although not sure if we will go via the Falls Chain or do a loop up the Kash chain to Kawnipi and down Agnes. Need to make a decision in the next week. Ho Ho, I have been on Cutty Creek as far as Camel. We came out of McDougall to Eag to Cutty Creek. We were there in late August of 2004, a semi dry year, and we had no problems with the creek. I loved that area, good luck on your trip.
