quote tumblehome: "You're gonna have a great time! Summer can be tough in the Q with the heat but as long as you take your time, find shady camps and wear sunscreen, it can be the best place to be. Enjoy.

I hear ya... My wife LOVES the heat, so that is the only time she will trip with me anymore. We always do our Q trips near the first week of August. I prefer the shoulder seasons for weather but it's worth it to get my wife to go. The plus of August is usually less bugs and a lot of swimming to cool off. It can be the busiest week of the season according to the outfitters though, that's why we switched to the Quetico years ago.

Granite--will watch out for ya. Our Permit is Sarah too. We won't make it that far though. I think we will only stay 4 nights and stay close by. We are staying at CBO hotel.

All set for a quick trip to Quetico.
Wife and I are taking our 7 year old son on his first canoe trip. Prairie Portage entry 7/27. We are just going to hit the area of Sunday, Burke, Basswood. Sort of depends on the weather and how he is doing.
Very excited! couldn't believe this late in the game almost every permit for Prairie was open.

Have a great time, Tim. I'm not surprised there were permits available, though. That's just part of the beauty of Quetico... for those of us who love it.

Might see you. We are also entering the same date at Prairie and are headed toward Sarah. Four older guys, hard to miss as we hobble across the portage trying yet one more year to single portage. Not so sure it will work this year.
