Dreamer: "Google maps says the drive is only 15 more minutes up the road. I do have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. I'll probably risk it..." I would too! Please report back with your intel..... Have a great trip. I have a solo planned up there. Might be this year, might be next. |

I'm considering a Wabakimi trip in July. I do not want to do a fly in, and I don't particularly want to take the train, although I would. I'd prefer a park and paddle location, even if it's a difficult drive on backroads. I'm wanting to experience Wabakimi at its finest, some beautiful areas, and some decent fishing. I will probably do a 60 to 70 mile loop. Suggestions? Thoughts? |

We have collected several drive up spots. I have entered thru Smye Lake 3 times. Drive up and park back off the road. I even got my Prius into the parking area. While I like the Smye Lake put in there are others. |

jcavenagh: ".. Smye was one I was looking at. The fact that you've done it 3 times tells me what you feel about it! I was also thinking about the one north of there: Sassenach. I can't find anyone that has gone in there. There looks only to be a small pull off the dirt road. But this area looks beautiful. I'd like to go over to Wabakimi Lake if I go in there... |
