Four of us are planning on camping around Miles Island on Seagull next week. Is the landing by trails end campground viable? is the start of the river open year round and is there a trail around it? it would save about and hour form using the Blankenberg landing if we could drop in at trails end.

I'm expecting a pretty tough trek in with lots of snow the last week, more tonight.

Any info on this? We're going up next weekend. WOuld be interested to hear the status of ice/open water, etc.

Was up there 3/1 - 3/4, we went out of the public boat landing and headed to the miles island/palisade area to camp. Open water near campsite (#477) which is typical, just cut through the campsite. There were pretty well worn tracks the whole trip for us and there was probably more than 25 inches of ice. Should still be in great shape!


Another group we saw, said they came from the Trail's End landing - but that area looked pretty sketchy IMO.
