I don’t think I could ice fish without a flasher. I bring my flasher into the hot tent at night to thaw a little. For that matter the rods and tip ups come into too otherwise the spools freeze up overnight in all but the warmest of winter conditions.

Thank you for the reply tg...

I've never even used a flasher let alone taken one on a trip so any info is appreciated.

I use a Marcum M3 with a bioenno 10 amp hour lithium battery. Most of my trips are about 3-4 days in length and I’ve never run my battery dead on a trip. I fish a lot but camp chores and early darkness cut into the actual fishing time (maybe 10-12 hours in a trip). If you’re really concerned pack an extra battery. I do love the weight savings of a lithium battery.

I bring my Vexilar on shorter trips where weight and space is not an issue. We fish around 6 hours a day and I have had it last through a 4 day trip before. I mostly like having it for early season trips where I might be willing to drill more than a couple holes.

For those that take a vexilar on your winter trips...how long does the charge on your flasher last? How many days and how long each day can one expect?
