Since I have an upcoming winter hike on the SHT, I thought I'd get a pair of snowshoes.

(Not really) to my surprise, almost everywhere is completely sold out of snowshoes. I found a pair of Tubbs Wilderness on the REI website a night or two ago and went to bed. This morning I went to check out, and they too were already sold out. :(

I called down to Midwest Mountaineering since REI literally had no brands I recognized left. I described what I wanted, a grippin' and rippin' pair with nice ice grips, and they sold me over the phone a pair of TSL Highlanders.

Further, the only sizes at REI available were 25 and above, and I was able to get a 21!

Super excited to test them out. The binding on it is super stellar as well. I've borrowed my friend's MSRs and was never really impressed with the odd strapping system.

That's all - just excited about a new piece of gear. (Maybe this should be in the gear thread, but its winter-related, so who knows. :) )
