Well, it appears my Jack London "freezing to death in the Klondike" trick worked. It was 42 degrees here last night! Love it!

So, it was 97 here on Tuesday!! Sheesh, it's the 10th of September for cryin out loud!

In order to try and beat the heat, I went down to the local library and checked out a book I haven't read in probably 50 years. "Best Short Stories of Jack London."

It was refreshing to read some stories about freezing to death in the Klondike!

Seriously, I had read a lot of Jack London as a youngster and had forgotten how good a writer he was. No one wrote better about the struggle for self preservation in the presence of the overwhelming power of mother nature.

Good reading.

I am also tired of the heat, but more tired of the lack of rain. My grass is brown but at least it isn't blowing away like it was last year at this time.

Liking the cool nights now.

There is a freeze warning for most of St. Louis, Lake, and Cook counties tonight. Lows from 29F to 32F. Glad my vegetable garden is 100 miles south of the BW.
