It's coming, Mocha. Thanks for sending some encouragement. I had to get home, get settled and ready for Sunday worship. I'll do a trip report today.

What an amazing, difficult experience. I sure learned a lot!

I'll venture a guess that you brought too much stuff? :-)

Have fun and you will. People who really only canoe in the summer and never been up north in the winter are missing something.

Great trip report, loved the pics. We are heading to Seagull next week and I can barely contain my excitement. Maybe you could give me a little info? Where did you access the lake? I'd like to use the lot off of the Trails End loop but not sure if its plowed. Blankenberg would add a couple miles as we are planning on heading to about the same area you were. Were there any areas with thin ice you encountered? How about ice thickness?

Thanks again for the report and glad you are planning another winter trip.

I've been wanting to do this for years. My daughter is working some winter hours up on the Gunflint and there is a guy at her camp who has all the gear so I am driving up in a couple weeks and the three of us are heading out of Seagull.

I am pumped!

Nice! Where is you destination? We have a tentative trip to Seagull planned for March. Looking forward to a lake report.

Hannah works at Wilderness Canoe Base, a camp affiliated with Lake Wapo Lutheran Bible Camp in Wisconsin. We'll be leaving from there but I'm in the hands of the guide as far as where to go. We may stay on Seagull or we may take a portage trail off to another lake. If I catch a laker through the ice, you'll hear me whoop all way from there. I'll keep you posted on this thread.
