I don't know/remember if they were found during the explorations mentioned in this book? But there are several authentic artifacts on display at the interpretive center at Grand Portage National Monument.

Just finished this. Very interesting and a well documented study of the areas voyageurs and fur traders frequented along the border. Reads mostly like a report. Some bits are a little dry, but good to keep for purposes of history and research.

Would enjoy seeing some of the artifacts in person.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Wow, I've never heard of this. Always wondered if anyone did archaeological research under the water in the bw. Between the first nations and voyageurs, seemed like they would likely find something.

Picking this up.

Anyone who is fascinated with the Voyageur/fur trade past of canoe country will certainly find this book incredibly enlightening.

It documents the underwater research diving that took place from 1960-73.
~How they did it
~Where they did it
~What they found
~The historical significance of what they found
~Each items importance & how it was used back in the day

Included are pictures of many of the items recovered. Along with some general history of the area. And where some of the items were likely originally crafted.
