Just finished reading this book. A quick read as it's only about 130 pages. Not too bad of a book. I wish he had written more about the trip and less about the plane ride and stay at the outfitters.

Great extended trip report about a canoe expedition taken on the Mac Farlane River to Lake Athabasca by author/canoeist David Curran. In June 2002 he sets out with a fellow paddler to descend this remote, 140 mile, river in northern Saskatchewan. The only other documented descent was done in 1991. Portages are sketchy and Class II and II rapids encountered. He gives a good details of their week-long journey and it reminded me of some of the experiences I've encountered canoeing remote areas. He expresses his fears and excitement about paddling such a remote area. They encounter bears, ancient sites, bushwacking and exciting whitewater. This quick read will inspire your own wishes for a remote river trip.
