Maybe so. I might be showing my age. They were glass at one time. They probably don't have cork stoppers anyore as well, right?

I get it that this pertains to physical things - but so is a mind - a proper thinking mental attitude.

Well. . .assuming I have my PFD, camera, TP, and rain gear (all mentioned above), then sunscreen.

I bring a wool blanket. Usually just use the sleeping bag as extra padding.

And just to add to the nostalgia, the specific wool blanket I bring was a gift from my dad when I was a kid that he got with Marlboro points!

Definitely duct tape. That magical stuff has gotten me out of many jams. I actually started bringing Gorilla tape a few years ago, works even a little better when it comes to adhesion to canoes, paddles, packs, etc.

I think this is an interesting idea for an important item, my wife disagrees she said a shovel, so we'll leave it at that.......

As noted, map and compass. Ain't nobody no how finding their way from Sag to Kawnipi without these.

So sayeth the voice of experience (despite holding them in my hands at the time):

"If this isn't the &*^% portage, I'm going to forego dinner tonght!"

Partners. Not a fan of solo trips. I mean, what’s the point of making memories to yourself. Definitely enjoy going with other people so much more.

Good, fun, canoe tripping partners. Number one. The rest is just checking something off a list.
