Terry, I'm glad that just a simple and informational post about my pacemaker / defibrillator could give you such confidence and strength. The fact that it meant so much to you means a lot to me. I'm so glad I could be there to help in such a small way. You get the most credit for keeping a positive attitude and working to get better.

Keep on gettin' on, my friend. There are a lot of paddling days ahead.

Yes, “Oz” is a great guy. Poster child of Bwca.com...

You’re right Terry, this is a great community. Was fun to meet up with you last fall. I believe the weather here right now is similar to that day, except it’s raining on top of (well, its down to) three feet of snow here.

In the last week, I've received something bought from the Classifieds section from yet another board member (Tomcat) and received a very nice surprise (THANKS AGAIN, JOHN)! I've carried on a few e-mail conversations regarding boats, Ozark paddling, possible meet-ups with a few members. I've bought a boat and sold a boat and had several nice conversations. Then tonight, adding my own cancer testimony along with the other board members trying to encourage one of our fellows.

Doggone it, this place is just a wonderful place to be a part of. I thank Adam and all the moderators for helping keep this site going and making it a nice place to hang out!

It's weird when I think that I've been coming here for 12 years. It's gotta be the people. Go team!

Terry,
As this site has enriched your life, you have enriched ours by being part of it. After meeting member maxxbhp and hearing him speak of your friendship, I knew you must be a special person. Then our path crossed and my gut was right! I cant wait to meet up this spring and paddling "Blue Betty" on some of that Ozark water!

And to the members I have had the opportunity to get to know and now call friends. To the all the others who post, share and teach on the board. Thanks for making this such a cool place to hang out and share in the things we all love!

Those are kind words, but I feel like I've been "filled" more than I've "filled" on this site.

A few years ago when going through some heart failure and my cardiologist was having little success with treating, I thought my paddling days, especially up north, were done. Then Spartan2 sent me e-mails of encouragement and possible routes that would still be possible for me to do.

Then last year, I was thinking that my heart attack in May and subsequent pacemaker was just the final straw, but Jackfish lifted me up from that.

Then I get online after a week long stint (heheh, and STENTS) to find a long thread full of prayers and encouragement!

I have been the beneficiary of one heck of a lot of love and encouragement here. The folks here are indeed a "Treasure" and have been a "Blessing" to me and so many others!

What goes around, comes around. When Spartan1 was in the hospital during and after his kidney transplant (he had some complications), we were uplifted every day with messages of support, with prayers, with well-wishes and thoughts of a positive nature from our friends on BWCA.com and Quiet Journey. It helped.

That was ten years ago. And it started before that, and it continued after that. The whole concept of "online friends" is something that I learned through being on canoe country message boards (I am not on FaceBook, or any of those other online forums), and we have received much more than we have given.

Meeting those friends face to face is always special. And we have done it many times: HoHo and David, Bruce (ArkansasMan), Old Salt, Mocha, Boppa, Suncatcher (Paul), Ben, AncientAngler (Tim), Magicpaddler, Jimbo, dprochef, --I could go on and on--times together with people who "speak the paddling language" is always golden.

But when we cannot be together, we can still keep each other close in thought and in prayers. I have a bunch of you on my prayer list now. And visiting here, sharing ideas and opinions, sometimes even giving out a bit of information. . .that is a neat thing to do.

It's a good place. I agree.

Coming to this site twice a day while I was going through my own health issues really lifted my spirits. Reading trip reports and all the other threads made me determined to make it back to th BW,and I did! Thanks to all who run this site and for all the great posts! Ray
