Yes I was talking about his new live recording from 2016. It’s a mix of his latest album and Floyd stuff. I have seen an older recording from Pompeii but only the song Echoes. Didn’t know it was a full concert. I’ll look for it. Thanks |

I said was the radio stations in Duluth-Sup have some interesting programs (always like the Blues program ), and occasionally find a station from the UP from across the lake it's also interesting to listen to Canadian public radio when travelling thru Canada, makes me glad to be Back In The USA and out of the Union of Socialistic Social Republics of Canada when I leave, the public radio there is even left of the NPR dial |

Does anyone have any canoe/paddle song suggestions that follow the same style/theme? Also, if anyone knows where to get the full Fyder and Everhart album I would love to purchase it. |

For something local (MN local, that is) try the "Half a Mile From Home" album by The Sweet Colleens. The Americana/Celtic sound of both get me in the paddling mood when driving up north. |

minnmike: " Neil freaking Young! His tunes are in my head on most portages. Followed closely by the Dead and Pink Floyd" Yeah - me too! Have you listened to the Massey Hall (1971) LP? Solid Neil. In addition to your list - Jerry Garcia Band, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Allman Brothers Band, Wilco, and Ryan Adams. |

As I pulled away from the parking lot of Pioneer Midwest with the new solo canoe I purchased (as a result of help from this forum), The Current was playing Wildflowers by Tom Petty. I wept. A great sequence of songs for your ride, Silvermice, Wildflowers, then Time to Move On and then You Wreck Me (one of my all time favorite ear worms on portages). |

AmarilloJim: "I usually just listen to talk radio. I'm definitely ready to turn it off and get away from the world by the time I arrive." One thing I love about road trips is tuning in stations in different regions along the way. Whether it's music (inevitably a good song turns to static as I drive out of range), or conversations, or some Wisconsin station playing polkas, whatever. I enjoy it and my wife hates it. |

If we have the radio on, these days it is usually Sirius, and I like the 50's and 60's stations best, sometimes Elvis. Spartan1 enjoys talk radio of many kinds. I am not as enthusiastic about it. |

Followed closely by the Dead and Pink Floyd" If you have not listened to it, check out DIck's Pick 32. It's an August 7, 1982 Alpine Valley show. Was my first trek to Alpine (can honestly say I do not recall much of the shows; I was only 20, so there is that...), and Jerry is beyond hot on this night! |

I've seen Neil a few times. the last 3 times were the first 2 show of his 3 show run at Carnegie hall January 2014 and 1 show at Chicago theater April 2014. All were solo gigs. I paid more than I care to admit for 3rd row tickets to the Chicago show, but to me it was worth it and a one time thing. I would like to see him with Crazy Horse one more time. Figures I will be on my solo when he comes to Alpine Valley with Willie and Bonnie Raitt for Farm Aid in September. |

" Research has proven that those who love wilderness have superior taste in music and are infinitely more intelligent, compassionate, funny, charming, and sexaaaaaay. Well , I have no citations but... Thanx for the Neil link and Jerry, thanx for your link. Neil Young is pretty much a demigod to me. And, check out Rag n Bone Man-my latest obsession. |

They play outdoors in an old Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, doing Echoes, Careful with that Axe, Saucerful of Secrets, One of these days, Set the controls, Us and Them, and Brain Damage. Interviews from the making of Dark Side in 1972. Plus all kinds of other stuff. The copy I have is a directors cut, its on the Universal label, copyright date 2003. |

I was a metal head back in the day (ah teen angst haha)so do appreciate the therapeutic value of hard rock. Good for dealing with frustrating traffic, mean people and energy boosts. I like the Scorpions also-saw then in concert. Rob Zombie- Living Dead Girl, Dragula and Metallica-Sad but True, Sandman. Little bit of AC/DC. Like another poster said, I love almost all types of music and have a nice mix for a variety of moods. My teen daughter introduces me to some cool new stuff. Even have a little Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and Martina McBride. Neko Case, anyone? I’ve seen her in concert twice. Super talented. America. The Doors. Arctic Monkeys. Billy Joel-Songs in the Attic-has been a constant source of happiness since I bought the cassette at 16. I’m enjoying this thread and checking out some new artists. Jill, that’s one of my favs from Mr. Young! I wouldn’t have made it through life without music-straight up. |

boonie: "Thanks for the Eva Cassidy link - she was really good. Too bad another really talented one died way too young. " Boonie, she was unknown outside of her hometown area of Wash. D.C. and couldn't get a record deal because the labels wanted to pigeon hole her into one style of music and mold her to be a star like like Whitney Houston etc. So, she passed away at 33 in 1996 and there's basically just live recordings and some studio stuff. An album was put out that no one cared much about until it got in the hands of a BBC DJ in the UK. Then, this grainy video footage of her singing "Over The Rainbow" from a fan with a camcorder got into his hands and they played it on the Top of the Pops video music show around 2000. Keep in mind that vidoes on that show were all big production numbers. Think MTV in the 80's. So when this was shown it caught a lot of people off guard and got requested to be played over and over. Here is that video footage that broke Eva to the world posthumously. Eva Cassidy Over The Rainbow |

Bearpath9: " Certain bands bring back strong memories from my past. Pink Floyd is one of those. I actually saw this movie on the big screen sometime in the 70's. Their music brings back unpleasant times when I used psychodelic drugs. Unfortunately it's hard to listen to them these days because of that. The same goes for The Doors and Black Sabbath. Led Zeppelin to a certain extent too. I saw The Song Remains The Same countless times in the theatre but have no memory of doing so because I was so "out of my mind". Now, play me some old 70's Yes or Rush and I perk right up! :) |

TomT: "Lately I've been getting into John Prine. I was collecting podcasts of interviews with him and came across a download of a full live show he performed at the Newport Folk Festival in 2017. It's fantastic! and it's free and I want to share it with you guys if you haven't heard it. It will definitely be playing in my truck on my 10 hour drive to Ely in August. BTW, he sings many duets with special guests one of which is Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. I've liked John Prine for more than a few years since I downloaded a bunch of his stuff off of Napster (remember them ?). Thanks for sharing. |

And I know I'll listen to Eva Cassidy's "Nightbird" double live album. Possibly the greatest live recording of all time. She performed at least 5 different genres of music on this one night. Here's a sample. People Get Ready |
