I am still able to make tomorrow at 5-6 if that is happening. If not then no worries. I can make almost any day at BWW that is picked.

Thanks, firemedic5586. Someone mentioned that MEA weekend might be good timing. I looked up date and saw it MEA was only Thursday not Thursday and Friday but decided to just go with that time. Sorry you won't be able to come. Good luck to your young Hunter Killers and happy guiding to you.

Tell everyone hello, sorry but I can't make it.

I've been in Duluth for the last 3 weeks and need to get back to my place in Detroit Lakes soon.
Also, the in-laws are coming :-)

Hi Ginny. It doesn’t look like there is much interest. Please let me know if you still plan on getting a table by 2:00pm today. I quite possibly be the only one left on the planet without a cell phone, so it would be nice not to travel out of my way if this won’t be happening. Thanks
"

Inspector13, I do understand. I have a cell phone but rarely use it. Carry it around if I'm traveling but sometimes/often find I either have no signal or it's not charged.

Because there isn't much interest and some who were interested can't make it this Saturday, let's postpone our gathering for Saturday, 10/19 at Buffalo Wild Wings in Duluth.

We can try this again some other time. I'd still enjoy hearing stories of your canoe adventures, past, present or planned.

Have a good weekend. Looks like it will be a good one for some outside activity.

Thanks Ginny. At least I’ll get a little more time to get things done before the weather turns bad again. I was planning on staying at my cabin until Tuesday, but now it looks like I’ll be heading back in the rain Monday.

Bumping this up:

Anybody interested in joining us at Buffalo Wild Wings (1307 Miller Trunk Highway, Duluth -- across from the Mall), on Saturday, October 19 at 5:00-5:30 for a beverage and something to eat and visiting: catching up with old friends or meeting new ones.

If you can make it, post here so I can ask for a table of right size.

Puffingin.
How was the weather in Ferryville?
We canceled our fishing trip.
How was the fall leaves lookin?
We were disappointed but friday and sat would have been miserable. Not much better on Sunday
Monday would have been ok.

Yogi59weedr, we had very nice weather while I was down there Sunday -Wednesday am with high 50s, 60s and I think it might have been near 70 Tuesday afternoon. Trip down Saturday was crummy: steady rain, some wind, poor visibility until near Spooner, and then lighter rain until Chippewa Falls. Not bad after and nice along Mississippi south of LaCrosse. Went on a backwater cruise out of McGregor Sunday afternoon--beautiful and sunny. Not much color in the leaves. The boat captain said it was likely due to all the rain and high water. Poor trees that shouldn't be in water were soaking their feet. He also said the fishing had been poor (he made his living in years past fishing for rough fish).

I just got home last night from a getaway at my sister-in-law's cabin overlooking the Mighty Mississippi near Lynxville, WI. Got away from home and internet service and any phone connection.

I suggest we get together at the Buffalo Wings up near the Mall in Duluth on Saturday, October 19. If you'll post, I'll make a reservation for a table for the group. I supposed anything over one could be considered a group and we can regroup if no more than 3 people can come.

What's a good time for others? Anytime between 5 pm and 7 pm as gathering time works for me. I've never been there so don't know how busy the place is. My preference would be 5:30 or 6 pm.

Let me know if you are coming so I can call Buffalo Wings to set it up.

Any date works for me. Around 5-6 pm would be best as far as time goes.

Hey Tony, every time someone tells me that I need a cell phone I tell them, No thanks. I like my freedom. I must admit that not having one has a drawback now that almost everyone expects you to be always accessible. At least work can’t get me immediately on my days off.

Anyone interested in coming, if you'll suggest a date and time, it would help a lot to come up with a new date. Of course, no obligation to come just because you offer suggested time(s).

Well, I just got on to say I will also not be able to come now. The weather has provided a little window of opportunity and while I would love to talk canoeing with you, I prefer to actually be canoeing more. I plan to do a full day trip on Saturday in the BWCAW to one of my favorite areas that I have not been to in a while (Kawishiwi Lake and beyond). Sorry to cancel.

Ben: Let's get together and catch up.

Crap!!! Turns out Saturday we’re having a birthday celebration for my uncle David. He is one of my most favorite persons in the world. He’s turning 89 and to be honest as active as he has been, seeing 90 might be a stretch... If I don’t go I would be very sad.
I will be sad to miss you guys too... So I’m pretty tore up.

Sorry you won't be able to come, Ben, but perfectly understandable. Need to make a favorite uncle (or relative or friend) a priority and especially when that person is getting up in age. Maybe we can plan another gathering for a cabin fever reliever after snow starts--and continues and continues.

Have a great time celebrating Uncle David's 89th birthday and wish him Happy Birthday from me.
