Happy to say I have introduced 19 people to the Q. Planning on retiring in 2020 and will definitely take at least 2 or more annual trips into Quetico for as long as I can. Getting left knee replacement surgery on Feb 6th and right knee replacement surgery March 19th. Orthopaedic Surgeon in Chicago that performs minimal invasive surgery doesn’t take Medicare so I am pulling the trigger on 2 new knees. Making regular visits to the gym to get in better shape and get legs stronger for Tripping. Planning a 15 day Quetico trip June 22 - July 6. Can’t wait. |

5 newbies I can take credit for...a few more I shared the first experiance with but they weren't my guests so to speak. As much as I enjoy making the connection for others...I am entering a phase where I will be focusing more on quality trips for the faithful who support my love of the BW, paddling and fishing. After you have been introduced, either you love it...or the novelty wears off quick. Good trip planning can help strike a balance. If done right, it adds capacity to what you can do. I hope I can find time for a solo some day...but there are a couple people that are my reasons for keeping tandem canoes. |

Total trips BWCA/Quetico = 87 Total different persons tripped with =142 People I introduced to it = 104 But, if you count day trips (non camping), all numbers are in the hundreds. |

I did take a quick look at entry points and it appears that I have around 27 entry points under my belt, so definitely a few yet to explore. Many of those include multiple trips like Moose(several), Baker(3 or 4), Lake One(3 or 4), Crocodile(2), John Lake(3 or 4), Lizz Lake(several), Homer(2), North Fowl(3 or 4). Back in the day half a dozen or so of the trips were to the Q. Two of the BWCA trips were in January. Far as I know I am not even close to done yet. |

First trip in 2009 24 people tripped with, including myself (solo) Brought my daughter twice, wife once, brother, brother-in-laws, father, friends, etc. Introduced myself to BWCA on my first trip with BIL (also 1st trip) Hoping to introduce my son and mother on another couple trips this year after taking last year off to recover from L4-L5 spinal fusion. |

I have an exhaustive list that I'am working on that still needs a little proof before final - but for now- ( I don't seeing it changing by more than +-2.) Times tripped to the BWCAW/Q = 56 ( + or - 2) I have each logged, might be missing a few. Souls tripped with = 33. (pretty solid on this) My trips started in Aug of 1993. How about you? |

RTurner: "You folks are a sociable bunch. Most of you have tripped with more people than I know. " Finding new people to take is really not that difficult, If you tell 10 people about your latest trip to the bdub chances are at least 7 of them will say "I've always wanted to try that"....... |

Only 4 trips to my name, but first trip wasn't until I was 56, tripped with either 1 or 2 of my pre-teen or early teen kids each time. All 4 trips have been in the last 5 years, and it's a pretty good effort on our part, a 1,000 mile drive one-way to the end of the Gunflint. The best trip will always be the next one, and I think I've got the kids hooked long term. They want to take friends next year. So, I hope in my own little way, I've spawned a small growth of northern Ohio trip takers. |

30 trips to date, all BWCAW. 26 of those are with you White Wolf....19 (going on 20 this year) with our typical May crew... |

lindylair: "First trip in 1972. Never actually sat down and figured it out but I know I am around or over 40 trips, with perhaps 60 or so people. About half of those 60 would be newbies that I brought up. All loved it, most returned, many with me. +1; Same as lindylair, except a decade later. Haven't kept track of each trip but wished I would have done so. About 1/6 the number of people as LL, and about the same on EP's. Same hope that I'm not even close to done. :) |

Savage Voyageur: "I’m amazed at how many people kept tract of the numbers of trips, and people. The years have blended into each other. I could only make a guess at this point because I never wrote it down. I guess I should have kept some kind of a log or diary of trips. Two to three trips a year from 1980 to 2005, then one trip a year. Trip members are between 3-8 people, averaging 4 per trip. " I've never written it down either but when asked, it's not hard for me to think back on the number of trips, people, newbies and entry points--I'm kind geeky that way! :-). One tends to remember the things they enjoy and I do like introducing new people to the BWCA. Will introduce another newbie this summer. He is all fired up to go! |

Second trip was in August with 3 guys that have never been to the BWCA. My goal for 2020 is to double my number of trips! |

nooneuno: "RTurner: "You folks are a sociable bunch. Most of you have tripped with more people than I know. " You have a different social base than we do, nooneuno. Friends and coworkers always wanted to see our trip books, and then they would make some comment like "my idea of roughing it is the Holiday Inn", and tell us we were flat-out crazy! |

People tripped with - 11 = 2 have repeated, 9 have been one and done. (It's always been hard for me to find people to do trips with, lots have said they'd like to "some day"...) Dogs - 2 - Ruger and Crawford. (Not at the same time!) 1994 BWCAW - 5 days - my cousin Glen and I. 1998 Quetico - 7 days - solo trip, mid-September. I learned a lot. 2000 Quetico - 5 days - my cousin Dave and I. 5 weeks before the trip Dave lost most of his left big toe to a lawn mower, so that started the whole base camping trend, esp. with him. 2003 Quetico - 6 days - Dave and I again. 2005 Quetico - 6 days - Dave, his stepson Matt, my nephew Devin, Ruger and I. 2006 Quetico - 6 days - my friend Del, his son Derry, my nephew Cody, Ruger and I. 2007 Quetico - 6 days - Dave, his nephew Nick, my cousin Bill and his son Will, Devin, Ruger and I. GREAT TRIP. Bill is retired from the Navy, has Parkinson's disease and this was the only opportunity for Bill and Will to do a trip like this together. So thankful that this trip came together for them. 2013 Quetico - Devin, our friend Zach, Ruger and I. The boy's high school graduation trip. I thought I was grooming Devin into a life long, yearly canoe trip partner, he seemed to love it. Soon after this trip he started motor boating on Lake Erie with a family friend and he'd rather do that now, he's even bought a 20' boat. It's somewhat disappointing... 2017 Quetico - 12 days - solo trip, with 6 month old Crawford. After years of trying to find a trip partner I decided to start going solo. 2018 Quetico - 8 days - Dave (probably his last trip), Crawford and I. 2019 Quetico - 13 days - solo trip, with Crawford. Not as many trips (or people) as I wish, however now that I'm geared up to go solo, mentally also, hopefully there will be yearly trips and someday multiple trips each year. |

bobbernumber3: "39 trips including WCPP, Wabakimi and Isle Royale. Would like to keep to it too just BWCAW/Q- but I understand the calling and urge. Personally could add at least half dozen outside BWCAW/Q in Canada but whatever- let's hear IT!! |

32 canoe trips, that includes two in Algonquin PP, and one in Temagami, the rest mainly BWCA, but a couple in Quetico. For the most part just us, a tandem couple. Haven't introduced anyone except our daughter for a short trip to Algonquin when she was 8, and both of our children (teenagers) on one trip in 1988. One trip with three other people, but they were all BWCA veterans already. And one trip with HoHo and David, who were far, far more experienced. We live in central Michigan, so we didn't have the luxury of taking off for a weekend trip or making several trips in one year. Our longest trip was 22 days in the BWCA and I really wish we could have done more like that. We have been introducing our granddaughter to the canoe country since she was four years old (she is 16 now), but we don't take her on a wilderness canoe trip. It is just a cabin week with day trips. I hope that someday she will take a trip with HER family! |

I took one trip to the BWCA as a kid and many more since graduating college in 2010. 17 trips to BWCA (2 more planned in 2020 so far) 16 entry points used 27 different people on trips 17 first timers to the BWCA (3 more in May up to 5 more in June 2020) |

17 different entry points 8 people. 1st trip was a group of 4. 2 tandem trips with friends. 5 tandem trips w my wife. 5 tandem trips w big duckling who is 14. 4 tandem trips with little duckling who is 12. Each of them did their 1st trip at age 5. And 5 solo trips. I’m looking forward to baby Bruin’s 1st trip. My 1st trip was in 1993 but very sadly my 2nd trip wasn’t until 2008 |

guided from 1986-1989 variety of misc. friends and family trips through the years Totals: more than 2 dozen trips, over 100 different people, more than half were first timers...nothing like being a guide to end up with high totals. Some of my favorite trips were leading first time adults during fall trips. My only regret is taking so many years off from the BWCA. From 1992-1998, I focused on whitewater kayaking and canoeing which was awesome, but then I didn't do any BWCA trips again until my son was 12. Wish we had done more when he was younger so we could have had more years of traveling with him. |

I was at a family reunion in July of 1993 when an uncle of mine told us nephews about the BWCA. That August was our first trip. Went thru Zups. (Have no idea why). Stayed on LLC and camped on Fish Stake narrows. I loved that sight. We had no idea what we were doing that year. As the years went by we gathered knowledge, bought our own equipment, reserved our own permits, and got more adventurous. That first year it was two uncles, two of my cousins, and myself. The group pretty much stayed intact for the most part. There have been 6 or so people we introduced to the BW. I've gone every year since then except for one or two years due to family stuff. Sadly do to age, family, and health issues I am the last of the original that still travels north to enjoy and explore the BW. This year i have a solo planned for early June. Then hopefully a group trip in August with a friend and his son(s). Get out there and enjoy, time waits for no one and before you know it... |

I took my first trip in 1978 with a 4-H group. I did two trips in high school with some high school classmates, both led by Cliff Jacobson. I didn't count those groups in my tally above. Mike |

16 trips with ~45 different individuals. Half have been with Scouts so that boosts the number of individuals that I've gone with. All of the scout trips have been in Jan/Feb, and half of those while I was a Scout. it wasn't until the 7th trip that I actually put a paddle in the water. All of the paddling trips have been with family (up to 3 generations) over the MEA weekend in October when the kids have a few extra days off. |

By the end of 7th grade we were allowed to boat camp in the BW by ourselves, although we grew up only a truck portage away. By college I was a regular and have not stopped since. The last 3-4 decades I have gone an average of four times a year. I guess I have gone a lot. And am still hard at it. A great source of marital discord!! |

voyager: "First trip was in 1968 with my girlfriend, her sister and hubby. We were outfitted through Don Belland. I introduced my brother, and first wife, and my current wife. I have no idea how many trips, LOTS! Went 5 times in 1 year, 1 of those was Feb. I live in N, Mich. 750 miles from Ely. Wish it were closer. Lots of solos, and trips with the wife. Introduced 1 other couple, but it cramped our style." |
