A rich life, indeed! Her book "Quetico Provincial Park: An Illustrated History" should be owned and read by every Quetico tripper.

Shirley was a Legend and a good one. Her book of Quetico is excellent and a collectors item.
Yes, we’re lucky she came along and helped do so much for the wilderness area known as Quetico. Thank you Shirley.

That is a great book. I look at it every year for 10-15 minutes. Full of great and interesting information. And the next year when I pull it out again, I find I have forgotten most of what I read the year before so it never gets old!
Rest In Peace.

Shirley Peruniak was a great lady. We met her on four occasions. She was very approachable, Her book is wonderful. One time we met, she had just completed a canoe trip into Quetico. She was well over 70 at the time. Very sorry to learn of her passing.

What a great way to spend your life. Her age shows what spending time in the great outdoors may do for you.

RIP. Amazing life, amazing woman. We're lucky to have had her for as long as we did.

I have a copy of that book!
I hope to head to Quetico sometime in the near future.

Thanks for the link, Jackfish--what an amazing life and a wonderful contribution to Canoe Country she made through the years. Although we've been playing in Quetico for over 40 years, I had no knowledge of her or her book (thanks, arctic). I was lucky enough to find a used copy which arrived in today's mail, and my initial reaction is "wow--quite the collection of Quetico history!" TZ
