I dont recall the rocky little rapids at the portage, but the rest of the clues sound like Snipe

Mercy! I expected this to be an easy one. I know for certain several of you have been at this very spot.

That waterfall comes out of a real big lake that actually drains into two watersheds into Lake Superior.

It may be evening before I am back to a computer.

That waterfall flows out the west end of Brule Lake into the Temperance River watershed. Brule Lake also flows out from the east end into the Brule River watershed.

The portage near that waterfall is the shortest of three that enter this gem. The narrow channel in the first picture opens to a beautiful, complex lake with wonderful rocky shores.

Getting close. Someone is in the right watershed.

This is looking the opposite direction from the first.
