Kinda an anti social position being 6' below the surface that would be short lived i feel. :)
Viewing fish in that body of water would nearly have to be a braille experience as nothing would be visible that you couldn't touch within a foot of your eyes. Better to grab a can of worms a fishing pole with a hook and bobber and catch some sunnies; if seeing fish would be of interest.
It was good to have you over for a paddle last year! Will have to see how this year pans out.

If you are interested in solo canoe freestyle paddling, I will be on Golden Lake in Circle Pines, Thursday evening, May 7, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Feel free to come join me on the water. All should able to keep the appropriate distancing.

Hey Dan... if you're on the surface in your canoe and I'm directly under you, but six feet deep due to a sudden urge to view the fish, that still counts as appropriate social distancing, doesn't it? :)

I'll get there one of these nights. Where you are usually canoeing is just up the road from where I work. But tomorrow night I have planned to go fiddlehead, solomons seal and ramp hunting.

Are beginners welcome? I am just getting to know my solo canoe and am looking for tips and tricks.

Beginners are definitely welcome.
Straight shafted single blade paddles is the correct equipment for solo Freestyle. Paddles preferably with no dedicated powerface with smooth blade surfaces and thin edges so slices are effortless, without a tendency to head off in constant vector.
If you can kneel, and have kneeling pad that would be great.
Life jackets should be worn.
