You could hear the wind getting picked up by the GoPro mic. Gosh they must have hated paddling into the wind.

I have developed a very simple rule to live by, if someone pulls out a Go Pro it's time to walk away.

Woah!! I only wish I had the skill (and the guts) to do that. That looks terrifying to a flat water paddler like myself.

I thought it was smart that the one canoe had straps around the hull for more grab opportunities... man, biggest whitewater I've seen canoes run.

I'd have to take a lot of extra underwear.

Oh man those guys are so calm and in control. I did some pretty cool whitewater, but they are on a whole nother level.

Absolutely crazy. I have a friend who was a raft guide in the Grand Canyon for 5 years. He took me down 2 years ago in October as well (on a raft). He told me the Colorado River has a rapid classification all it's own from Class one to ten. I can't imagine trying to paddle a canoe thru those class 10 rapids like Crystal and Lava.

Here we are going thru Lava Rapids, a class 10.

That water is also super cold. And it looked like a couple of times they didn't scout the rapids. Crazy stuff (but it does look fun!)

My thoughts exactly!!
Kudos to them!"

Not to mention it would be really hard to fish while paddling!

My favorite moment was the woman paddling the upside down canoe.

I think I’ll wait for my next life. Because then I will know that reincarnation is real and won’t need to worry about dying.

Boy do I lead a tame life. A little bit jealous. Makes one want to be young again. So much left undone.

I have friends who've run the Canyon in canoes with raft support but to do it with gear loaded in your boat is just an incredible accomplishment!

you don't see the vid of the people who have tried, and didn't make it, for obvious reasons

I'm told that when they finally find the bodies, the stench is overwhelming

Been there done that. Took naps on the beach waiting for calmer weather.

Apropos of nothing, isn't this a gorgeous painting?

The painting's name is "The Wrecking Ball."

Doing the Grand Canyon by raft is on my bucket list ... but by canoe ... WOW ... what a ride

Did some whitewater rafting in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula. It was class 1-5, there was a take out point after a class 4 area. The guides asked me if I wanted to do the whole thing with the last part being class 5.
I declined the offer and got out, class 4 was enough for me. After 25+ years of firefighting I figured I shouldn't push anything.

Talk about a little whitewater! I’ve backpacked the Grand Canyon twice, but it would be awesome to do some paddling down there. I’m a sissy, so I’d be in a raft! Last time I was in the Grand Canyon some guys had packed down some packrafts to run Tapeats Creek where we were camped. Gorgeous area, and it’s the recipient of one of the shortest named rivers and the steepest river in the US, Thunder River.
