The Ely Timberjay for July 24 quotes the Police Report (among the usual crashes, domestics,and loud parties):
"Animal Disturbance. Officers were called about a bear in town. Officers asked the bear to go back to the wilderness. The bear decided to listen to the officers." and
"Animal Disturbance. Officers were called about a bear being in town. The bear enjoyed some birdseed and was asked to leave the area."
In the Help Wanted ads, Ely is recruiting a new police officer. Sounds like a good gig: three 12 hour days on duty, then four days off. Deal with the usual riff-raff, then chase a bear back to the BW. Take your fishing tackle.
