I would suggest you paddle up to Cherokee, Temperance, Burnt, Smoke lakes. Here is a route discrimination from the Sawbill Outfitters people. Sawbill Loop |

If you want to get an early start and renting a canoe. Sawbill will let you get your canoe the night before your trip. If you happen to do the Cherokee loop an get around to Jack Lake, you might want to take 15 minutes and explore the abandoned gold mine. It has a trail leading to the west from portage on the south side of Jack Lake. FISHONFISHOFF |

Idea #1 is to head north for some kind of an out-and-back, probably heading up to Long Island Lake. Idea #2 is to head west on the lady chain for an out-and-back, maybe as far out as Lake Polly. I think that there are some good looping options, but right now the out-and-back trips seem to give us the best chance for some day exploring. Would really appreciate any thoughts from anyone who has explored this area! Cheers. |

Make sure you set aside 10% of your waking hours to this place. Good folks. Good advice. Good times. |

I just did the Lady Chain to Polly but then took out at Kawishiwi Lake. That route can be a bit strenuous going back and forth but it's a beautiful one. |

I'm new to the forum, but I just wanted to throw out a quick thanks to everyone here. I'm planning my 2nd trip to BWCA (1st one was mainly organized by other folks) and everything I've read here (trip planning info, trip reports, gear reviews, etc.) has been an amazing resource as I put things together. I've got the permit reserved for mid-September at Sawbill Lake and already have a few ideas of potential 4-5 night trips. Looking forward to reading more about everyone else's trips! Cheers. |

Give us your top two or three route thoughts out of Sawbill. I am sure that you will get some opinions, sites to see, and advice on the routes. |
