It's amazing how fast they climb trees!

It's amazing how fast the black bear in this video can climb a tree when it's got the incentive.

I have seen them go up a lot faster and come down with the bark flying.

Oh, riverrunner, you old silly. The only thing faster than that bear is an F-22 in vertical climb with the afterburners lit.

I guess you have never seen a bear climb a tree with a pack of hounds on its tail.

I guess you've never seen me climb a tree with a pack of hounds on my tail back in my bad chain gang days. They called me "Ol' Lickedy Split." More than once, I climbed up and over the back of a bear climbing the same tree.

Perfect example and the reason why I never tree food. I pack mine in an airtight container and take it deep out of camp. The USFS stopped by on our last day there and asked us about our food container. I told them what we do and why, and the response was I needed to hang or get a bear barrel. Sorry no. Both methods fail.

It's only idiots this year for the reason they are having a problem on the Gunflint with bears.

That's such a cool video!!!

I love how that little black bear has enough pluck to try to steal from the Grizzly. I bet I could climb a tree that fast if a Grizzly was after me. For some reason, this black bear reminds me of my puppy stealing food from her 14-year-old grouchy sister dog.
