nctry: "Funny how we get so many threads on the same story. But yeah, lucky dog. That’s not an area you want to lose such a family member." Yeah Ben I goofed(again), I looked to see if anybody else had a thread and I missed it. Oh well we can never have enough good dog stories. Yes I remember a dog was lost on Isabella lake campsite ,it ran away from their site also. People went home(I believe out of state), I know some USFS on their own time came out looking. Finally I think it was Willderness Outfitters went in and found it. I think that was the outfitters they went thru. Not sure I think the canoe couple might of even capsized and than made it to shore at the camp site. I know I was grouse hunting in the area that day and it was super windy. I believe the couple even left their equipment behind. Anyway the dog was found by that campsite about a week later and was spooky but they coaxed it in. |

Eden, who weighs about 25 pounds, was separated from the Renner family on Sept. 17 on the portage between Kiskadinna and Muskeg lakes, about 4 miles south of the Gunflint Trail and northwest of Grand Marais. She is owned by Scott Renner of Herndon, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. Unsuccessful in a three-day search for the dog, the family returned home without Eden but posted notices on websites, on BWCAW blogs and on Facebook asking campers to keep a look out for her. Eden was found Monday by a family from Michigan some 5 miles from where she had gone missing, but apparently in good shape. The Michigan family, which had its own dog on the trip, lured Eden to them with food. “We’ve seen photos and videos of her and she looks to be just fine. Maybe she needs a brushing and lost a little weight,’’ Scott Renner told the News Tribune. |
