Out of season from Chili Blueberries are not has good as in season USA Blue berries, but passable. I eat blueberries almost every day

So I go to the local WalMart store and their having a big blueberry sale. I look at the packaging and there from Peru and Chili... What!!!

I've been buying blueberries from Sams Club for years. They are a product of the US when they are in season. When they are out of season they are from Mexico or South America. Considering how far they are shipped, I think they are pretty good.

My blackberries are from this continent..produit du Mexicue.

It is not at all surprising that the blueberries in US supermarkets in January are sourced outside the US. They are out of season during winter. It is now winter here but summer in South America. I suppose some could be grown in greenhouses, but I don’t how many that would be.

I bought a carton of blueberries from Lunds just the other day and they were pretty darn good.

I buy eagle claw hooks.
Advertised made in America.
They ship the hooks to China and have them put the lead on them for jigs....package says assembled in china...
What's your thoughts on that....

If you want fresh produce around the year then it is going to come from further and further south during the winter. I even chuckle a bit when we are in Ely in the summer and see fruit and berries from California. We do look forward to MN corn.
There are some admirable brands. I forget the name but some of our local farmers work with farms in Mexico to help them be successful. The produce is sent here under a collective name. And that is good for everyone.
For blueberries in the winter, the farmers at our farmer’s market suggest freezing buying them in the summer and freezing them.

I do freeze my blueberries...
Throw them in some yogurt.. as Andy Griffin said about Ritz....Good cracker.

A very high percent of our fruit and vegetables this time of year are from Mexico.

I'd prefer eating South American blue berries to eating fishhooks, no matter where they're assembled.

Frozen blueberries. I've read blueberries tend to lose very little of their nutritional/anti-oxydent value in the freezing process. Not the same gesture, but still great in oatmeal or pancakes.

I've found Michigan blueberries to be the bees knees.
Here's some frozen with free shipping.

I am very thankful that here in West Michigan blueberries are a major crop and we can pick as many as we want in the summer and freeze them. Growers also freeze them locally and they are available.

Greetings from a long time visitor...first post!
I thought it was time to finally take a "dip in the lake ". Perhaps, I could of be of some help to fellow blueberry lovers. I have one plus cups of frozen b-berries daily. I can highly
recommend Wyman's frozen wild blueberries. Most bags are quite tasty. Occasionally, a bag will not be at peak flavor but I chalk that up to being a natural product.
In east central Wisconsin they can be purchased at Woodman's, some Targets and local stores. Prices run from around $13.00 to $10.00 for a 3 pound bag. I don't even fool with the small bags :)
