That's a neat article. I didn't know that anybody was allowed to excavate areas there. 13k years ago fits with most estimates of other native activity across the country some 10,000 to 15,000 years ago. Kennewick Man skull was found in Washington state and is dated to roughly 9000 years ago.

This included consulting with the Ojibwe and Dakota, and closely coordinating with Lee Johnson, the U.S. Forest Service Archeologist."


So he got all the permits and then some
