I get so confused with the new stuff out nowadays.

I currently have a Guide 10 plus , now officially ancient with a 2 panel solar setup shown lower in the page. I'm wondering if it will charge the smaller lithium batteries with 8-10ah 12v that I intend to use with my fish sonar.

According to ampedoutdoors.com I am probably going to get 9-10 hours of use on my battery hooked up to my humminbird helix 7. Thats not nearly enough power for an entire trip so I am hoping to use my goal zero to charge it. How long would it take to recharge the battery? Will it be able to recharge the battery assuming full sun?

Thanks in advance guys and gals.

First of all, probably won't be able to charge with that as your goal zero is 5 volts and the lithium is 12v. At the very least, you will need a different charge controller, since your goal zero battery pack contains NiMH batteries which have different charging requirements than your lithium battery. You have to be careful with lithium batteries as overcharging them is dangerous.

As far as charge time, it will take quite a while. Your goal zero pack is 2.3 ah at 5 volts. They report something in the neighborhood of 6 hours to recharge. Your lithium battery is 8-10 ah at 12 volts. Much bigger, so it will take much longer to come to full charge.

You should look into a bigger solar panel designed to charge your specific battery.
