Purchased a newer Truck last year, 2017 F-150 and debating on building or buying a rack. The rack on my 2000 F-150 lasted for ever, just 2X4's and easily carried two canoes 800miles. This year with price of lumber and me being very picking cause it's a newer truck I am debating on what to do. I have found this rack, ADARAC, that should work with my flip up Tahoe cover below link.
My biggest question is how and can i safely transport my Wenonah Champlain and 2 kayaks on the below rack?

For one canoe and two kayaks, I would put the canoe down on its gunwales (as usual) with whatever padding or stops you choose for that rack. Then I would look at fitting Thule or Yakima kayak J cradles or other attachments that hold the kayaks on their side. It is actually a good position for the kayaks and minimizes how much of the width of the rack they take up. Whether that will work in the width of that rack depends on the particular boats.

I have the same rack in black for my Denali 3/4 ton. I also just installed another one on my sister in laws truck. I use it primarily for hauling my two kayaks. They are made in North Dakota and Not China. They are built with quality, the fit is excellent. Everything lines up perfectly. Everything is included and the directions are clear. It’s a simple install, takes about an hour to install a rack. I have to remove my two rear tail light assembly, two screws, to access the stack pockets to mount the rails. The racks are rated for 500 pounds. Most Kevlar canoes weight about 38 pounds. Aluminum about 75 pounds. So you would be way under the load limit. I put two kayaks on top of mine and have zero problems. Not many products I would give a five star rating to, but these I give ten stars.

Those no name kayak cradles look good. There are a few too many negative reviews for me to be confident about them. I wonder if they are inconsistent in their manufacturing. Maybe just be ready to return them if the ones you get seem like a problem. I have Yakima J-cradles but then my kayak is a tandem fiberglass/kevlar boat that is worth a lot more than the cradles (fortunately we got the kayak used).

Here is a custom rack I built for my truck. It holds our canoe down the center and a kayak on the either side. I added a lower deck to hold my son's 8' kayak. It has over 5,000 miles on it now and is removeable during the months I am not on the water. The kayak holders are just cheap ones from Amazon but hold up just as well as Yakimas I have used in the past.

Thanks aruthenb! That looks like the situation I am in. Just placed the order for adarack pro and amazon holders. I'm hoping I can get all three on top of the rack. Will post pics as soon as I get it all togeather.

That's great, I also recommend if you are traveling long distances to add a roof bar to the truck for added tie-down up front. We travel from South Carolina to the BWCA every year and it just reduces the number of times I need to retighten straps in heavy winds. Best of luck!
