Don't need a dog to dump a rod....I can be stupid all by myself....foam was my solution and it raised my IQ by at least 2 points....

In the Quetico. First photo is facing northwest as I'm heading to a campsite (second photo facing north) that was closed/unverified....it worked for me....

Crickey, I was going to say Badwater too. I’ve sort of given up on the lakes. I must not have the photographic memory that some people have.

Interesting. I was first picturing the long narrow channel between Batchewaung and Little Batchewaung Bay.

Clue time....Lake 93 is only one portage from a Quetico entry point....and any portage from the car to initially putting your canoe in the water does not count as a portage....

If you head south along the western shoreline of Batch Bay, there's a channel that runs NW and then west. Just before the little narrows is the campsite I used. Continuing west will lead you to that lengthy portage into McAlpine....

Well, close enough in retrospect....on the Chrismar maps, Batchewaung is listed as 3 bodies of water, Batchewaung (after the portage from Nym), southward from there into Little Batchewaung Bay and then further south into Batchewaung Bay, which is where my photos were from. But when I checked on the maps from another website, it lists all three as Batchewaung.
So, I think it only fair to award Porkeater with the win, and sorry I didn't do this sooner after your initial guess of Little Batchewaung Bay....

Ah so true!

One guess was very close...
These next photos show me leaving my first campsite by heading east. Then I arrived at an island campsite on the same body of water. The first campsite photo is facing southwest showing the canoe slip down the hill from camp and the second photo shows the firepit area facing mostly south, maybe a bit southeast....

Sarah, It looks like the island campsite I have camped on before.
