Thanks! This thread reminds me that the next trip through here, I have to stop and fish it for awhile before moving on. Walter is a nice lake with a enough expanse and shoreline for a good fishing basecamp.

A couple photos of a campsite on Lake 100. First photo is facing east-southeast, and the second shows one place to put a tent. There are three portages leading to/from Lake 100. One of these portages has a branch that leads to this campsite, a nice trail about 100-150 yards long from the portage.....if you're heading north after your stay, you can simply use the trail as opposed to loading up and paddling to the rocky take-out....
BTW, you can catch the grand slam in a morning by fishing the northeastern part of the lake, and never have to get more that a 300 yards or so from your campsite....

Seems most people prefer the other campsites located on an island on the southern side of the lake...not sure why that is. It would put them closer to the southernmost portage to a deadend lake though.
If my memory is correct, Stumpy passed by Lake 100 by hiking along a high, steep ridge on the eastern side of Lake 100 during his epic trek across Quetico from north to south without using a canoe. Said he saw something way down the slope along the shoreline but I can't recall if he actually tried going down the slope or thought about it and decided not to....
