I usually go when I can and where I can depending on permit availability. It's been tougher these past 2 years but I just did a trip in LIS north that opened up unexpectedly last Tuesday. So, permits are out there, I just had to hunt one down.

I considered EP 41 based on intel I got here late last year. That should be a nice trip.

Yup, have to plan ahead now days. I reserved permits earlier than usual and still had very limited options. Never been to Brule before, so I guess there's that. ;)

Too many people on this rock.

Just nailed down our dates for later this summer and as most of you know permits are scarce. There can't possibly that many people going again this summer... Can there?
I only have myself to blame I suppose.
How discouraging.

I still think entering at any entry point on any day is way ahead of entering the workplace.

Permit hoarding

This explains a lot.

Always true. And a good reason to explore a new area (or areas)

We were up at Veterans on the Lake resort (Fall Lake) this past weekend and traffic in Ely seemed sparse I guess you could say. On any given day driving through town, I only saw a few canoes strapped on cars. Piragis was empty, we were the only ones in there other than staff. Of course we were in there fairly early (about 9am).
