cyclones30: "Looks good! I've got some great retrieves on video from this weekend. My GSP never used to be much of a swimmer or retriever growing up but she's good at both now. My shorthair at 6 is just starting to retrieve well again. It’s my fault…this dog was phenom as a pup. At 6 months and only 25-30# he was pointing and retrieving limits almost every weekend…then I knocked down a big mature rooster that became a runner. He got spurred pretty good and he has been a little shy on Retrieving ever since. Totally my fault as I hunted him too much at a young age and exposed him to the “trauma”. Funny how they have long memories. I made a video of our Iowa opener if anyone has time to watch Iowa Opener |

My weapon of choice was a Remington 1100 .410 GA. I used 2 and half inch shells with a half oz. Of 7 1/2s. When you hunt over dogs , ya don't need those big guns. |

I did most of my hunting alone. Just follow the dog. Most shots are 20 yds. Later in the season I did switch to my 28 gauge... I miss pheasant hunting. |

yogi59weedr: "I used to hunt iowa phasants many moons ago around Williamsburg to down around lake Odessa. Although I had Brittany's. I use a single shot 410 quite a bit. Why carry a big gun when you can’t hit them, I can miss um just as completely with a light weight gun! |
