I like it on the main forum also. Having it during the slow months increases posts. Too many sites are uninteresting due to a lack of new posts. I like the pictures too, and trying to remember what distinguishes one lake from another. A separate forum is not necessary and would decrease participation too much.

Thanks for the discussion.
I especially like the comment from andym, "I don't play but like looking at the pictures".
And also from Freeleo1, "Too many sites are uninteresting due to a lack of new posts."

Strongly agree with putting these in their own forum as long as there is no way to mark all read.

I'd prefer that they all stay in this forum. It's just easier to locate/participate.

Sorry but in my opinion, the General Discussion forum is exactly where it belongs. There also no reason to make it off-topic so it would disappear because it is on-topic. We already have 79 sub forums now. Sub-forums are where topics go to die, which is exactly what you want to happen. I for one have learned quite a lot by looking at various lake pictures. Interesting for old members to return to a lake many years later by seeing a picture. New members look at these pictures and stay interested, ask questions, plan a trip. Don’t like this topic, it’s very easy Not to click on it. The other topics are still there for you to read.

I'd like to suggest a new forum to collect the guessing games in one location.

While I've looked before, I have not been on this year's Name That Lake Forum. Just didn't interest me so I have not clicked and just scrolled on by.
THIS thread, however, caught my attention!

When I log on I have to scroll past up to a dozen posts to get to the NTL posts. However, it really doesn't take much effort and I am happy with them where they are now.
With current forum activity level, there are 6 days worth of posts showing up on the first page of "Listening Point" and only 20% of them are for NTL. I don't think any posts are getting 'lost' to the NTL spam.
