Damn! That's the first one I've seen where I've known right away. I camped there on my first solo trip and stayed for 3 nights. Had some great luck early in June fishing lakers from that site. Also, I was in the habit of using black trash bags to solar heat some water for a shower (bit of a wuss in that <50 degree water) and some leaked out while I was away from camp and the biggest mass of black ants I've ever seen came down out of that tree and drank the water up.

Beautiful for sure. It would be kind of unremarkable, smallish and exposed without the behemoth, magnificent white pine that dominates it. It would be a challenge to hang a second hammock or an extra tarp. There's some cool flat rock tables around the kitchen. Here's a couple more photos showing the kitchen area and a failed attempt to capture the entire crown of the tree in frame. I'd probably have to paddle to Canada to get a photo of the whole tree.

It is one of the prettiest trees in all the BWCA. I have only seen it up close at night but have paddled by it multiple times. Sadly, it has been reported to me that it is in decay. Sigh...

Like my photo for lake #10 this is a dog photo that happens to have a lake in it, but this time the tree is the real attraction. The paddle is for scale. I expect this one will go quickly like my last clue did, as I can only definitely name the lake from my own photos if it's a distinctive one.
BWCA, looking easterly:
And another angle with more lake and less dog in it. Looking northwest-ish:
Fun fact: The entire wilderness had been closed for two days when these photos were taken. I had no idea

Mountain lake has so many of those huge pines. Some have fire scars that they survived on the portage from Clearwater.

Stayed here a few years ago. Magnificent tree! There was a large garter snake and at least two different chippies living in the hole near the bottom. It's probably a high-rise apartment for many species.
