butthead: "Hope your ride home was good Mark, snowed here in SE WI Friday afternoon. A bit more planning and I'd have a brew with you! Take care of that canoe! It was snowing last week when I went around the north end of Lake Michigan to Mackinaw City. Lake transport had just been opened up.

Cannot wait for the snow to be gone for the season! I am actually spending the night in Madison; my eyes get goofy after 4 hours on the road. I should have thought about reaching out to you! Hope you are well, Ken.

Frenchy19: "So, today I move the canoe out through the window, close the window and secure the boat to my car. Tried to get back in through the regular door-but I could not as I left it locked from the inside. Fortunately, I was able to get the darn window open again. " Security cam footage on that window over the last couple of days must be a hoot.

Forget about the motel incident, I have never seen canoes on the menu at Denny’s.

Sleeping with a canoe. Admitting you have a problem is the first step in the road to recovery. Nice canoe. I'd probably do the same.

Staying at an Airbnb in Mad Town, and the host offered me to stash my canoe in his garage. I took him up on his offer, and if anyone ever needs a place to stay in Madison, WI, this place is amazing and highly recommended: Lake City Loft as presented on Airbnb, and it is immaculate!
If I am not supposed to post a plug like this, my apologies. That said, I see this as a favor to anyone on this site traveling to the Madison, WI area; the hosts even provide free beer!

So, I officially now own a Swift 15 Keewaydin! I picked it up about an hour ago at a Denny's in Kalamazoo, MI. It is a 600 mile trip back to the Twin Cities, so I am spending the night in Kal.
I was worried about the canoe wandering off in the wee hours of the night, so I brought it in to my hotel room. Could not make it fit via the door in the hallway, so I took the screen off the window and brought it in through there. Overkill? Perhaps; but it is a great story, and the canoe is safe for the evening!
Now all I need is for spring to arrive so I can get her out for a paddle!

My new canoe would be in the living room all the time…if I wasn’t married :)
Your Canoe looks even better than previous pics if that’s even possible.

So, is that a walleye night fishing rig with that light fixture in the bottom?

Frenchy, we've all had that uneasy feeling at some point when forced to leave our beloved craft on the car overnight.
Some worry. Others pray. Take it from Frenchy, cause Frenchy don't play.
Thank you for being a trailblazer and for reminding us to think outside the box (and to always keep a room key on your person).

Been there but just cable locked the boat to the truck. We were on the second floor of a motel and it was a tandem sea kayak. So it might have been hard to get it upstairs and inside. I didn’t sleep well but we had a good paddle the next day.
Enjoy your new canoe!

I'd have drug that into my hotel room too! Nice boat -- hope to see that out on the water up north :)

Beautiful Boat! You did the right thing bringing it into your room. I live in Michigan. Can't be too careful in the Kazoo. Hope you made it home safe. Won't be long and you'll have her on the water.

It doesn't look as if that boat was ever in the water. Maybe a lake with padded shores and bottom. Beautiful.
