There are A LOT worse things that it could taste like! Each lake has it's own taste coming from it's own mini-ecosystem. I'd be curious what contributed this on Disappointment Lake.

Couldn't resist."

I'm still looking for a gravity filter that makes my water taste like bourbon!

A cucumber odor and flavor in freshwater has been associated with the golden-brown algae, Synura, specifically Synura petersenii.

The First Need water filter also has a charcoal purifier in it too. After you filter the water will taste like……….water.

I guess it is not harmful to drink, no?

Is it too early for some turnover in the lakes or other recent ice out factors that may account for the taste?

Charred oak barrels work pretty good for that. Maybe run it through a thumper too...

I was on Dissapointment in February, and it tasted fine. Didn't filter it.
Maybe new vegetation?

Correct, the compounds for odor and flavor are harmless.

By the end of a 7 day trip, the water from my nalgene tastes kind of like salami. I think that's something else though... ;)

filter your water with a quality filter system and it all tastes like water. . .not your salad

Just got back from a few days on Disappointment Lake. Was with a group of 5 and we had 5 different gravity filters with us. The water on Disappointment had a distinct and robust cucumber flavor. Multiple different water filters were turning out water that tasted like this, so it wasn't a product of the filter.

Curious if anyone has run into this before?

I have not, but I have noticed the water in each lake tastes slightly different.

Not sure about that but it sounds like some tasty water!

Have you ever been at a gala event and they have those big glass jugs filled with slices of cucumber, lemons, or lime? Yummy.

Reminds me of the blue walleye on Kawnipi. Unique things about lakes.
