I love the game, and make my guesses on occasion. I've gotten it a few times. But I salute you for calling it for this paddling season. Seems that having it limited to run only during the hard water season would be an excellent addition to the written rules.

The game has always been stopped for paddling season. It actually kept going longer than normal this year. It was created to pass the hard water months with thoughts of paddling to come.

it has nothing to do with Jaywalker. but he's correct in that we SHOULD be out doing something. and we have usually quit the game earlier.

The contest usually goes to 100 and stops. One of the rules this year was to wait until the next day to post the next lake. If it took a couple of days to guess the answer and someone didn't post for a few days it made it a lot longer. If the rules are changed to let the winner post right away, or if a shorter limit of number of lakes is stated, it would probably contain the contest to the hard water season. I enjoyed seeing pictures of lakes we normally don't see, because they aren't anything special to the photographer.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated this year!
I had a blast and learned quite a bit about that place that brings us all together here. Many days this winter the first thing I did when I got home from work was check on the current NTL.
Personal Opinions/Cum Grano Salis: I also thought that it went on longer than it should have this year... but I've been outside doing things and have missed the last dozen completely. I had no idea about the 100 rule, I just thought it started after the New Year and petered out around break-up. Personally I don't like the idea of waiting to post, I think the game should just run as fast as people want it to as we're all going to miss out on a few of them entirely. If anything, I would endorse a rule that calls for a minimum number of incorrect guesses before another clue is posted.
My apologies for being one of the folks who slowed it down this year, twice I won and took a couple days to start another. Hypocritically, another time I took over and posted when the winner took too long.
