I have a permit in Sept, but I have heard that there will be 120 MPH winds and thousands of bears will be descending on the BWCAW...but I will take my chances.
LOL!!

People drop them all the time though. I literally just snagged a Little Gabbro permit for Labor Day weekend!

October is a beautiful month to paddle. Could get chilly and later on you have chances of snow. I’d plan something and take what you get for weather. I hope your health issues subside and your doing better by September anyways.

There is a whole post thread on this…people over book all the time…I am sure a September permit will pop up that is desirable to you.

For many years, I made a September trip. I would just show up at the forest service and get a permit for any entry point I desired. It has been a while since I have made a September trip. Thanks to medical issues, I have cancelled a July, and now an August, trip.

I thought instead of reserving, and possibly cancelling, a third permit, I would just show up in September when I get things stabilized. I looked at available permits and was surprised at how few permits there are.

Looks like it might be an October trip this year.

I heard this too. Anyone else with a mid-September permit should cancel for safety reasons. I will investigate and report how it went lol.
