Just finished a few hours drive coming back from the Driftless, only to discover that my fellow Blackwater paddler Banksiana has ended NTL #11 - it is Burke!
And indeed - smaller is all relative, isn't it?
You are up, Banksy!

Awwww man... I was 50/50 on Burke or Poacher and went with Poacher. Good job, Banks. Bring on the next one!

Lonely, if it’s an older picture. If it’s where I think it is, it’s probably burned now.

Still north of the border, I am afraid.
Smaller lake in Quetico, facing SW.

Reasonable question, Larry, given the fire history...
So another clue: this photo is from summer '22, and this lake was not impacted by fires - likely not during any of our lifetimes, anyway.

Jackfish: "Awwww man... I was 50/50 on Burke or Poacher and went with Poacher. Good job, Banks. Bring on the next one!"
It was the second photo. There is a nice campsite hidden in a sheltered depression behind the vantage point that the photo is taken. If you scale the rock from where the photo is taken down to the water there is one of the finest swimming rocks in the park- a level rectangle of rock that meets deep, deep water, a couple of footholds under the water to get you out.

Though it fits my high school memories of Munro, that doesn't fit the description. Emerald?

LOL ! You would think I'd known. I've only crossed it 100 times or more !

Another part of this lake; looking SW.
The island straight out in the middle of the photo has a campsite and blocks the view of one of the three portages you can use to get to/from this lake.

Burke!
Got confused by the descriptive "smaller".

Sunday
But is that small?

This lake is close to the perimeter...take one of the portages plus a short paddle, and you are out of the park.
