This “boat book” vein reminded me I also loved “Mighty Fitz” by Michael Schumacher about the Edmund Fitzgerald. The big boats amaze me, and it’s stunning how mysterious that wreck still is today.

“Endurance” is a classic for sure. Amazing story.

Another required read for adventurers is “Kon Tiki” by Norwegian anthropologist and explorer Thor Heyerdahl about his raft trip over the South Pacific.

I just finished 'Endurance - Shackletons Incredible Voyage' .

I normally take several weeks to finish a book but I couldn't put this one down.

I am reading Emerald Mile by Kevin Fedarko. It’s non- fiction about the creation of the Grand Canyon. Very interesting history about exploration and mapping of Colorado River.

While canoe tripping this summer I am re-reading a favorite book from high school: The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. A fictional story of a boy who overcomes bullying to be a great boxer. I appreciate the key people in his life who nurtured him after suffering and how he became a good person. Sometimes we never know how much our acts of kindness, support, and mentoring mean to others.

Fantastic!! What a great adventure.

I'm reading the newer edition of "Blue Highways: A Journey Into America" by William Least Heat - Moon on my September solo. I got this in the early 80's and it's so inspiring I bought the updated version to read again.
