I saw one on the Grassy road a month ago too.

Shocking to me. I had no idea.
Now if the DNR can repopulate the woodland caribou to the BWCA as its historical reindeer population and then the holy grail - the Wolverine we will be all set.

Son was driving today between Tower and Ely (on a dirt road) about 1 mile from the border of the BWCA and came across a Turkey moving across the road and into the deep woods. Very remote area. He Turkey hunts every year (not in Northern MN) and said no question it was a wild turkey.

I quit being shocked shortly after we moved back to MN in 2018 after an absence of nearly two decades. When we left, there were virtually no turkeys north of Afton State Park. The DNR's "northern limit" was tossed in the dustbin of history a few years back:

Visited a friend not too far from Cook 3 years ago and ran into about 30 some 30 miles south on way home. I was shocked to see them so far north. She says she sees them in her area from time to time now.

I remember my Dad having been so excited he had been issued a turkey permit way back when. He went wild buying a turkey call, camoing up. Was funny.
