WHendrix: "It was good, thanks for asking Ben. I stayed for the week at the Fall Lake Campground. It's one of my faforite places to camp. I've always had really great luck meeting interesting people there and this time was no exception. I stopped to talk with a gentleman down the road a piece to admire his new Grey Duck canoe and learned that he was a beekepper from Missouri and we had a nice talk about his new canoe. The next day I accompanied him, his wife, and their dog on a nice day trip out of Lake one. The next day I was preparing to go fishing in Fall Lake and the gentleman at the campsite across from me told me about the trout fishing in Tofte Lake so I changed plans and went there. The fishing was pretty slow but as I was dragging my fly on the way back to the landing I caught a nice rainbow. It was stuffed with chopped onions, lemon wedges, butter and some Italian spices and wrapped in aluminum foil and grilled over some coals. Along with a bit of Sauvigon Blanc it was better than any $40 meal I could have gotten at a restaurant in Ely."
Sounds like you had quite the adventure!
Are you up in town again this year?
I just crossed paths with someone at Zups though my mind was elsewhere & once I got on the road I was thinking it may have been you.

Never caught a fish already prepared to just be cooked like that before. Sounds very tasty!

I'm heading up to Ely tomorrow morning. I'll be staying somewhere at the Fall Lake Campground for the rest of the week and doing day trips and some fishing. Look for an old white Chevy pickup with a Northwind on the top and stop in if you are in the area.

That's pretty funny Ben. I guess my post made it sound like the fish came with all of tht stuff. Sadly not, but it was real tasty.

Yes, I just got back from there. I was in ZUP'S and thought I saw you. I said "hi John" but you did not respond. I assumed it was just someone that looks like you and went on my way. Sorry I missed you.

Yes, I had a good trip, and I was staying at the Fall Lake campground. I find it to be a great place to meet people with very interesting backgrounds. I struggled some this year with the fishing. I have been both a fly fisherman and a canoeist for nearly 70 years, but I still find it very dificult to flyfish from a solo canoe when there is a strong wind.

Oh shoot!
That was my fault, my mind was elsewhere & it didn’t register until I’d gotten to the parking lot what had happened. My apology for my lack of awareness, it would have been nice to chat. Hopefully, we cross paths again next September & I don’t have a brain fart haha.
