If you’re ok with hard physical work along with some adventure you could try wildland firefighting. The forest service should be hiring (and I think some people do report after the school year? ). You’d probably need to move out west, but there are a lot of different out door activities/ adventures there that the Midwest doesn’t have.

Where in NW Illinois? I am in Galena. My daughter works for Wyoming Game & Fish, I can check with her on opportunities.

I appreciate all the responses! Sounds like some of you have legit connections that I’m highly interested in. Thanks again! If you are able to put me in touch with someone, I’m happy to give out my email and cell number.

This is only seasonal, but sounds like something I would have enjoyed 40 years ago.

Sounds like a good situation, with the flexibility, young age, and not being tied down!
I would attend an Adventure Travel Show (too bad the Chicago one was last month) and get ideas if where you might want to go and what you might like to do and where to apply. You might wind up working on a boat in Hawaii or Florida or something!

What do you currently do for work? What was your field of study for your bachelors? What does your work history look like?

p.s. might label your post as OT, so it doesn't get deleted and others now as well.

Hi everyone,
I am seeking change after the conclusion of this school year and track season. I am single with no kids and no pets. I'm hoping to get some help in finding an adventurous job opportunity. I am very willing to move and have the resources to do so. I'm 31 with a bachelor's degree but, more importantly, I love to work and am strong-bodied with a friendly, optimistic attitude. If anyone knows of any cool opportunities, I'm all ears! Thanks!

Perhaps another question could be, what do you consider adventurous?

Hoping for a change of scenery more than anything… Adventurous, for this context, just means I’m willing to move basically anywhere if the job sounds appealing. Beyond that, I really believe I am coachable/trainable enough (combined with the skills and experience that I already possess) to be considered a prime candidate for many jobs.

You are about an hour and a half northwest of me… If you’re referencing Wyoming as in the state of Wyoming… please talk to your daughter asap lol.

Currently - Weight Room and Study Hall Supervisor and Assistant Boys' Track Coach at a high school in northwest Illinois.

I graduated from Murray State with a Bachelor's in Business Administration (Minor in Marketing).

Since graduating, I've worked mostly in education and have experience coaching both basketball and track. I also am a certified personal trainer and have worked at 2 different YMCA's.
